Kanye goes to Trump Tower

While it should have been weird to see Kanye West and his entourage march into Trump tower this morning, because the President-Elect is uniquely grounded in show business, it seemed as natural as, say, Rick Perry being named as Energy Secretary.

I remember when PEOTUS mocked the former Texas governor as having donned glasses only to make himself look smarter than he really is.

As for Mr. Trump, the visit by the combustible entertainer just out of hospitalization for a psychiatric emergency involving extreme exhaustion must have been a welcome distraction from the mounting calls for an intensive congressional probe of alleged Russian hacking and interference with the election.

It also deflected attention from Mr. Trump's earlier cancellation of a press conference regarding how he plans to disentangle himself from his far-flung business empire. And since Kanye recently claimed to be about $53 million in debt, perhaps it was intended as a contrast to all the solvent billionaires the president-elect has been selecting for his cabinet.

My first thought was that Mr. Trump had agreed to meet with Kanye because he is still looking for performers for the Inauguration. Maybe he wants Kanye to be his Jay-Z? If he shows up. After abruptly cancelling his St. Pablo tour I'm not sure I would rely on Kanye as my main act.
